Has anyone experienced slow loading times on CS recently.
A few ideas I have come across are:

Microsoft supplied a Win XP security update which slowed down loading times for some reason but I'm not 100% sure which fix it is to uninstall it.

I upgraded my LinkSys router bios which could be related although nothing else is affected.

Any idea or solutions are welcome.

I used to always be 1st in on servers but the last couple of weeks its really slowed down :(
My fps have also dropped alot, rather than my usual constant 85fps it sometimes drops to the 60's in certain areas.... probably is tha damn XP patch... damn MS..

Arn't all the updates stored under the add/remove programs list? Not that I can remember which one it is :)

Yeah you can uninstall it and Microsoft say which patch it was that slows things down but they don't name it by what they are called in the uninstall list.

The patch is called: Q811493 hotfix
I think the patches are listed like this in XP uninstall list.

Any idea if it makes a diiference getting rid of it?

Yes it does make a big difference - it was lagging my pc out something terrible on desktop tasks.

Just installed it, seemed to fix my fps problem out so i will wait and see how it goes :)

As long as I can load and connect to the server faster than about 2 minutes I'll be happy.

Silly question : you *have* deleted your custom.hpk? file - it stores all the sprays and can slow loading a lot....

and then add hpk_maxsize 0 to config :)

Ahhhhhh. Thats what it was. The file was 24.3Mb.
