There are no plans at present. Although we are talking to SOE :)

I doubt MPUK would run the server. The amount of bandwidth involved would mean stupidly high overheads for a server farm. SOE run their own servers for all their MMO games.

I think Wizzo means he's talking with SOE to persuade them (although correct me if I'm wrong). I know there's a server farm planned in Amsterdam for Europe, and there was talk by the developers to have a server farm in the UK eventually.

Cata we have over 100 Mbps of bandy available. Think that's enough? A large number of ISPs don't have that :)

i thought you needed to share the load over several servers dont you? that would rock if you could

100Mbps for a full Sony gaming cluster is too little by about an order of magnitude, and IIRC they were wanting their own suite (at least in the US).

I read on one site the PS EU server was going to be in Amsterdam (but on another it would be London).

I can't think of too many Telehouse hosting ISPs that *don't* have 100Mbit :-)

hehe who said a whole cluster? :)

We are trying to persuade them of course tho. Having said that... conns to the Netherlands aren't too bad from the UK.

Oh and we know we're not alone >100 Mbps in telehouse. Christ most of the ISPs in there just run CAT5 to each other. When the need arises I'm sure we'll go up to a 1000 Mbps conn to linx in addition to the current peering.

The devs said they would start with one in Amsterdam, and then follow on with one in the UK.

yeah the first one is in NL. We're trying to get it along to i16 atm. It's taking a bit tho ;)
