This one works, you can find the on-ride video there...

I dont think it gives you any idea on how fast and how high it is (until you see the drop ! ) :O

I'll be going on "Tower of Terror" at Dreamworld in July.

After building speed you go vertically upwards for 120 metres at over 160KPH, then you freefall backwards down the track!

I could handle the tallest ride if I was going forwards, but I think going backwards will mess with my head (and stomach :p: ).

Edit:

Looks very boring to me its just up and back down at the speed a low end sports car could do.

ahem..

"Due to rider restraint system requirements, guests of exceptional size may not be accommodated on some of our rides. This may apply, but not be limited to, guests who exceed 6’2” or those who exceed 250 pounds, have a 46” waistline or 54” chest. "

"Our larger guests may experience difficulty on .... Top Thrill Dragster..."

christ. i'm bordering on the height limit and the weight limit. Where's my goddamn dance mat.

hmm bowser ... but I high end sports car doesnt give you a geforce effect high than a plane hitting the speed of sound and if sustained long enough is capable os knocking you inconcious...

Mingtea
12th May 2003, 07:38
hmmm 6ft 4, ah well i'm not paying 50 quid for one ride on a roller coaster, i'd rather go to islands of adventure in Florida.

Oh and bowser if the low end sports cars that you drive do corkscrews them remind me to NEVER get in a car with you.

And if your car does 0-120 in 4 seconds I'd love to know what car you drive. :)

Tsung

Guest of exceptional size bit... It states it MAY apply to top thrill dragster, not that it does apply.

TBH the wording could be a lot better and less fluffy, there is no reason why Cedar Point couldn't put the height/weight limits for each ride individually (thus making it very un-fuzzy).

Im also curious as to where ppl are getting the it costs £50 a ride from?. Far as im aware, cedarpoint is a theme park, with a single entrance fee price; $43.95 for the 2003 season. That entrance fee, includes all the rides, nowhere in their brochure does it state you have to pay an extra £50 ($75?) for a go on the top thrill dragster. There was a special event on the first day, where ppl could bid for a seat on the ride where all money raised went to charity (american red cross).

Mingtea
12th May 2003, 08:24
I got my information from the BBC news, where it did state

"That at £50 a ride blah blah etc and so on..."

Apologies if i've been mis-informed but it's not unlike pay theme parks to make people pay for there main attraction.

Tsung
12th May 2003, 08:31
Soz wasnt having a go :), I did hear that myself from someone else, and thus investigated the claim. I think ITV news also stated that, which does seem strange , maybe limited will clear it up (or I might just send an email to the park to confirm).

About the car comment (here I go again), if you were driving a go-kart which does 100mph+ and you find a hill that goes straight up 400 ft, then straight down 400ft, you might be able to emulate the ride.

*Most Rollercoasters are designed to be as open as possible (whilst still being safe) to make it feel like your flying.. The best one ive been on for the "flying feeling" is kraken at seaworld orlando. It has to be the smoothest, quietest rollercoaster around, you sit with your feet dangling, ABOVE the track. bizzare :)

Mingtea
12th May 2003, 08:38
That's one ride i have not been on. I've been to Florida 15 times, but i only went to Sea world once in all those times.

My favorite ride definatley has to be Dueling Dragons at Universal studios islands of adventure, it's just fantastic.

Nah you have to sit on the back so you get the most speed on the way back down again.
Everyone seems to think the front is better but by the time the back end of the train gets over the peak of the climb you are half way down the other side and not at full speed.

I'm like Elbonio.... absolutely CRAZY about rollercoasters. The longer, faster and more bone jarring, the better.

Front or back, really depends on the coaster, if its a traditional coaster eg. you sit in a coaster "train", then go to the back of the train. If its a modern coaster, where your legs dangle go to the front of the train, to experience the ride properly. It really depends on how much you can see when riding it.

Yes I am crazy 'bout rollercoasters, if I had to pick a favorite "type" of coaster, it would have to be wooden (as they feel less safe, and a lot rougher). Unfortantly safety has spoilt a lot of them by fitting seat belts / lap restraints. :(

has anyone been on 'X' in Six Flags Magic Mountain in California?

it looks like a tottaly new type thing.. kinda weird, spoke to a few ppl they said it was amazing. really wanna go back there to go on it. :/

http://www.ultimaterollercoaster.com/coasters/reviews/x/

So did X live up to the hype? You'd better believe it... it's AMAZING. Arrow and Six Flags deserve credit for taking the roller coaster to a new level. X has without a doubt raised the bar and is positioned in a class by itself, earning its distinction as the world's first "Xtreme Ride".

Honestly, words cannot describe the sensation or experience X delivers and do it any justice. X is quite simply a minute of steel mind games that tinker with your senses, delivering a disorienting experience of fear and joy all at once.
