Another great LAN
It’s tuesday and yet another MPUK LAN has been done and dusted. After a very quick and smooth set-up and a massive early arrival presence of around 300-400 out of 1000+ odd punters, the largest UK gaming LAN event was underway. Generally it was freezing in Newbury and I know I certainly felt it on the 1st floor. The 2nd floor however seemed to have its own small tropical environment so I’m not quite sure what was going on there.

Ubi Soft and Codemasters both returned to sponsor the event with their tournaments of Rainbow Six: Raven Shield (Ubi Soft), IGI-2: Covert Strike and TOCA Race Driver (Codemasters). As well as all the usual tourneys like Counter-Strike, Q3A etc, we also had our very first and very successful Battlefield 1942 tournament with a £350 prize purse. I’m very happy to report that the MPUK team, who were playing for ‘chaaaridy’, came 1st donating their win of £200 to Comic Relief.

As well as Ubi Soft and Codemasters, we had quite decent media presence as well covering the first 1000+ player LAN event in the UK. PC Format, PC Gamer and Gamer.TV were all present to sample what I-series LAN’s are about. On the hardware side of things, we had our usual stands for Cool Case Mods and Everglide but were also happy to welcome Abit to i15 with their own stand and demo machines.

All in all i15 rocked and then some! The mix of gaming with socialising was simply top quality and the atmosphere provided by all those in attendance was just brilliant.?

Tournament Winners
Congratulations go out to all the winners of the tournaments that were played. We hope you had a good time and as usual, please direct any feedback to the forums.
