This is also only a one-map round, and I am very much against swapping out between rounds on the same map, since a feel for the enemies approach routes, strategies and ability from the first half is easily carried into the second.

I also want to go and watch Jurassic 5 this evening, so I'm minded to make myself the first dropout. Can I have some volunteers not to play before I pick the squad?

AAR for Jolt League match against UK-R. Monday 10th March.

Our first outing in Jolt division 1, facing UK-R in the battle for Wake Island.

Team:
Zakalwe(commanding)
Squire(unterlieutenant)
10acious
Afty
Andyf(Allies only)
Boffbowsh(Axis only)
Catachan
Jerky
Lyn(Axis only)
Wildthing(Allies only)

Allies:
Utilising my new tactics of WUB sentenced the north defnce force (Squire, Andyf and Wildthing) to a tour of duty in the siberian outback. Squire amused himself by attempting to sink the carrier with a tank (and very nearly succeeding), Wildthing practiced doing donuts in a jeep and Andyf whittled an intricate carving of the nativity whilst propping up his AA - stopping only to down the odd plane. This force did its job well and held the North against all threats. Down South things were a little hotter, an early sneak attack by UK-R Lucky kept Catachan groundside for an extra 30secs ( a good thing for UK-R considering his performance when he _did _ get airborne). Concentrated bombing kept the two tank drivers Afty and Myself under pressure and a large landing force attempted to steal our village! Later-on UK-R brought their destroyer into position alongside the beach and suppressed the airfield + village with their big guns. The South reactive force (Me, Afty, 10, and Jerky) soaked up the pain for 20 minutes, special notes must go to Jerky (3 downed planes with the APC gun), Afty (manfully using his tank to tempt bombers in for Jerky), 10 (the immortal soldier, recapping the beach so many, many times). I found myself in multiple roles, Torpedo bomber/double bomber/tank/dismount, and even managed to land on their destroyer when shot down and execute a nascent landing party. Finally our air-force (well ok, Catachan) deserve some respect for this. 1 on 1 and 1 on 2 he was invulnerable and kept a plane in the air for 13 minutes, I even saw him (on the map) nail 2 enemies then barrel role back to bomb a landing party. A fine performance. Overall we held off the UK-R Axis forces till time expired, leaving a 252-204 Minor Victory for MPUK.

Axis:
Ah the finely oiled ("Blood, the natural lubricant") MPUK war machine swings into action. AndyF and Wildthing depart for some R&R, Lyn and Boffbowsh arrive (very smooth switch over ppl nicely done). The round starts and planes take to the air, LC's throw off their chocks and your commander sits on the sun-deck of the destroyer and orders a martini. In what can only be described as a display of military precision (LC's and an Air-to-surface 10acious) our two prong attack became a one prong attack and we grabbed the south of the island after only bleeding a few tickets. As the destroyer cruised sedately around the island I surveyed the attack from the war-planning room and saw that it was good - whilst sipping a singapore sling. Air superiority kept our ground forces free to advance and as the navy hove into position we were already pressing on the airfield. After a desultory shelling of the airfield and some inconsequential (cough) friendly fire casualties I ordered the massing for the final push, finished my vodka martini and clambered into a plane. MPUK resisted my moment of temporary insanity as I ordered them out of their vehicles to dig "The biggest line of trenches you have ever seen" before "charging at the enemy positions waving your batons" but my WW1 flashback was soon over. The massed MPUK forces moved in to pressure the North, with an SAS paradrop from me to the North village to close out the back. The pincer movement closed like the jaws of a trap and all bar one of UK-R were dead, but where was this last man? MPUK mounted up into fast response units and within 2 seconds of the airfield turning contested Catachan had Halo'd to a roof and was making sure no more allies would be arriving soon. the UK-R man had managed to get the tank, but a barrage of ram-raiders (Afty & 10) took him down and that was all she wrote for a 289-0

Total MPUK victory.

Special mentions this round go to, Lyn (her rearguard action freed us to press on untroubled by vulnerable backs), Squire (he had far too much fun in his tank during the final North assault), Afty (he's been taking lessons in ram-raiding from 10), Catachan (close air support, "Cata can you take out that defgun?" BOOM thx wp gg bye) and myself for the lovley tan I got on that restful cruise. A lovely round wp all.

Medals
10acious, for outstanding service above and beyond the call of duty, or reason, in defence of a worthless concete hut on a strategically minor beach you will receive two brevets on your Royal order of the Ferret. Making you a Knight of the Ferret, KoF

Lyn, the gold plated latrine scrubber of forebearance for doing a thankless job with dignity and calm - thanks. :)

Catachan, some extra chalk to chalk up your kills on the plane's fuselage and an extra long fuselage to fit them all in.

Afty, 6 months in moss-side for further ram-raiding training.

Jerky, an extra course in Fixed MG maintenance (looks like you'll need it)

Boff, the Luminous pink camouflage jacket of visibility so I can see what you're doing easier.

Squire, a free voucher for a car-wash - to clean all that gore off your tank.

Andyf and Wildthing - siberian long service badges. (sorry it was dull)

and Zakalwe, a commander's smoking jacket pass to the officers mess and pair of Bvark rated ear-plugs.

GG's all. WP Uk-R we wish you all the best in your coming matches.
