This is one hell of a big clan and they play well on their home map. So a big turnout is needed.

Oh. Yes.
Can I suggest new tactics for the B17 on El Alamein if we are going up against a new air force? Hide for the first 30 seconds or so, till dogfighting is done...

I can sub in if needed, I'll make sure I'm on IRC from around 6.30pm ish. I'm out of practice so would prefer to wait for the Sunday game so I can get re-aquainted, but if you need a stand-in I'll be here / there / wherever

Detailed teams are up now - 3 sets of subs, which will probably go down.
Andy, I've put you in for alamein.

AAR:
El Alamein:
Allies:
A quality start, capping the assigned positions quickly and with little fuss. Some truly great air force work left the enemy totally unable to bring enough tank forces out to dislodge us, but enemy infantry attacks, especially on the south, were a pain. Njoroge and bvark capped the north occasionally (assisted again by some great bombing by afty), and held the south pretty much for the duration of the round, winning by over 100 points, which is a very rare occurence.
Axis:
A slightly confused start with the south and north forces initially failing to cap (the enemy's hiding in the north for 5 minutes was good work, and cost us several tickets. Defence at the north was OK but rather hampered by the lack of tanks (and Acid blowing himself up). Defense at the south was solid, with good (but rather comms intensive) communication as the enemy threw their main thrust down there.
A good hangar camp by the enemy at the end combined with a solid counterattack left them holding all three spawns, but we fought back to win by over 80 points. Squire and Andyf stood out defensively in this round, but once again we could scarely fail to win with such a huge advantage in the air.
One note about the hangarcamp - we don't charge engineers or AT into the building on Alamein, because there are so many tanks available to double team tank the enemy.
Midway:
Next person not to know where to spawn on ships, or which ship is wins a free trip to the subs bench - it will not kill you to play 10 minutes of Midway to work it out if you're not a regular player, or to print the map out if you're forgetful!
Axis:
With a near 200 point advantage on Alamein, it was never going to be hard to win, but we wanted to carry a decent victory on our home map. A decent (slightly navally confused) start got us the island, and we held it against withering infantry and aerial counterattacks. The navy did badly here, failing to win lots of engagements, but held onto the sea flags for long enough to get a convincing 60 point win. The comms channel again got too noisy to coordinate properly, we'll be looking at splitting out naval and land comms to see how it works. We failed to pick up our ships quickly enough when they respawned, which is partially a command mistake.
Allies:
A great round for VS-UK this one - their navy kept sinking us in evenly matched fights, and they killed several of our ships in our home base. We were inflicting horrific losses on them with our coordinated island defense (as the score differentials show), but they held all of the flags for too long, so we only managed a 4 point 'minor victory'. Aerial recon for the navy was again hampered by noisy comms.
Summary:
Highly convincing win, simply outclassing a clan who have had a lot of alamein practice. Not an astonishing midway win, but we didn't need one :) We're now 23rd on Clanbase, with a 4 win streak. Only one CB game left before i15 now - would be nice to be in the top 20 again by i15 :)
Medals:
Presidential Unit Citation for the MPUK airforce (Afty, Jerky, Catachan) for sterling work on Alamein.
Army Commendation Medal to AcidUK for solid tanking and defensive work on Alamein.
Bronze Star for Njoroge for some great jeepbound work on Alamein, and for notching up a serious number of kills on Midway
Bronze Star for Squire for excellent tank and defensive work on both maps
Wooden spoon (with engraved 'up arrow') for HalOS for
failing to understand how those floaty sea things work

Blah, as the first midway was starting, I thought Axis ship spawn was reverse of Allies where the 'island' destroyer is the most southern.
Sorry about that, and I did check map beforehand, just forgot as we got into the game.

Surely if he lands on the flag, he will be a sitting duck. And I imagine it would kinda hurt too.

That was a great game - I loved the 3 flag attrition on El al.
The guided bombing was great - very WW3
Afty - tank at north base
At the flag
Moving north side of the flag
Slightly to the right of the flag from your approach

Best bit was the light armour attack they did as allies on El Al to the centre from their base...
Airforce comes flying over...
"Incoming enemy jee...*BOOM*"
"Incoming enemy tan....*BOOM*"
"Incoming enemy pla...*BOOM*"
"Incoming ene... *BOOM*"
"FFS, leave something for us!"

No, clearly the best bit was cata, afty and jerky all closing in at the same point near the middle base mere centeimeters from a triple collision - all bombs dropped and then all planes scattered.
It kinda reminded me of the aristrike abort scene in the rock

Yeah, that was very amusing. I was in the Stuka, and was in "front" so didn't see the other two until I was exiting my roll at which point I realised how close we must have come ;)

Just like to further thank Squire for a very enjoyable game. He truy showed me what a good tank driver looked like. As allies on El he saved my ass and the south flag so many times. I just got lots of points from the flag recapping. Well played Squire.
How many points before we are clan #1 in clan base?
