I was kind hoping I could squidge through on b0rks server coz it's running on port 8080 but theyve even shut that off :(

http://cgiirc.sourceforge.net

Enjoy.

Although it appears to absolutely have to run under unix. Anyone who's got this running under windows, please tell me how!

:D

logically you could do it with Cygwin (would post a link but cba to go find one!)

I found a windows based one (ProBNC) it's basic but works

You guys do realise that by posting those links here, they will shortly become unusable?

Quakenet will not grant a trust to a hostmark for cgi-irc. Therefore, now as soon as 6 people try and use either of those clients at the same time, it will be g-lined for 2 hours.

Don't post your links unless you want to lose them!

From what I can tell most of these are using ip's that some irc op's have given unlimited amounts of users

Clones

If you need to run more than five clients on your connection (LAN Party, bots etc), you need to contact an administrator/oper (or mail info@quakenet.org) before you connect, or your clients will get glined.

I want to use CGI:IRC. Can I get a trust?

No. We do not give trusts to web-based IRC clients such as CGI:IRC that do not pass-through the real conection information of the person using the CGI:IRC client.

Yes. Quakenet will NOT give trusts to CGI:IRC providers. They may have given trusts to providers for other reasons such as bots or bouncers but they WILL remove the trusts if they find the host running CGI:IRC. Quakenet have suspended ALL long term trust adding anyway for the time being as they are moving over to the new ASUKA IRCd. And yes, GeeDee is right when he says that Quakenet G-Lines hosts for 2 hours once 6+ clones are detected from one host.

Well for some strange reason its allowing loads of users

GeeDee

how do you know it's allowing more than 5? Are you all in the same channel or something?

And it sometimes takes a while to 'notice' users above the clone limit I belive.

I've been in a channel using the one I posted earlier and had another 19 people join using the same client as mine. It was my m8s playing silly buggers, as soon as the 19th joined we all got glined for an hour.

odds are then that the hostmark is one which has been trusted for some other use (bnc's probably) and which someobody has been running cgi-irc off as well. Therefore I imagine you were manually g-lined by an ircop and the trust may have been revoked as well.
