After watching Sharpe I yet again have a major craving for playing a Napoleonic Period Game, but are there any?
Either first person or strategy will do me fine, i just want to blow the hell out of the french with my nice british riflemen :)

oh well.
I think cossacks pwns tbh...it looks a bit crap but plays very well...
another idea would be looking for mods for C&C games or AOE games, I dunno if there are any out there tho.

Medieval : Total War has what you are looking for, if you play at higher tech levels (just turn the tech level up for multiplayer so you can get cannon/mangoneles/riflemen etc. instead of starting with axemen and pikemen).

Cossacks - European War is really good and can be very adictive. It is quite hard though. Great funr when charging French calvery are mown down by a hidden rank of muskets.
Unfortunately there are no units with Baker rifles so you can't relive the Sharpe series yourself :(

cossacks is superb. the single player is just too hard to be interesting, you get 2 units and the enemy has 50 million that recycle every 2 seconds .. complete waste of time, theres obviously some sneaky trick to it, but you can't play it like any normal rts.
BUT .. the skirmish mode and historical battle mode are just the best fun ever .. all i do is upgrade the right things at the right time and have 18th century barracks within 5 mins, then it's lines and lines and lines of british redcoats ! .. mmm nice :)
best thing about it is that you can have massive formations, with 300 plus men in each unit, then formations of 10 or more of those (depends how quickly you get bored of building), with cannon batteries, cavalry etc.. then you can charge the french and send them back to frogland with a kick up the arse from blighty !
it's a xenophobes dream come true :)
Another game that looks good and is by the same people is american conquest, so you can fight the french and the yanks ... life doesn't get any better !
theres another game coming out soon but i've forgotten the name of, it lets you take over the world in 18th/19th century, you get to control armies, navies and political stuff.. looks spinkey

Age of Mythology is a good game, not quite what you are after, but still a really good game.
Again, closest thing i can think of would be Cossacks, or probably something like Age of War of Shogun or those types of games, dunno personally not really my thing. :(
