Seeing as Cyberdude seems to think that everything I post in the DreamLAN forums these days is flamebaiting, I've decided to start my responses here, out of the reach of his overused delete button.
Read on.

Posts that are ment for flaming are deleted.
Squire the posts that are deleted of yours are due to the fact that you deliberatly try to cause a flame war in dreamlan forums.
Please refrain from posting flame bait.

I see... so my suggestion regarding the quiz times was flamebait was it? Uh-huh. Of course it was, and not you simply being childish.
and I quote:
Funny that
kinda like your not welcome?

Dont you think its a little hypocritcal to accuse me of flamebaiting, but do it yourself?
If anything, my restraint from flamebaiting resulting from our fallout, has been exemplary. It is your behaviour that is questionable.

some people should really get out more :-)
I will resist the obvious attempt to start a flame war im mpuk forums as this is not the reason these forums are here. Squire as MPUK senior staff youshould know better.

I would have thought the reason it is here is obvious.
As for my position in MPUK, what has that got to do with the price of rice?
These forums are here for the open discusion of LANs and related topics, obviously something you fail to understand.

as someone who's taken a lot of flak on forums I personally feel that it's best to leave the comments in view and let the people decide. if it's incorrect, then argue the truth. if it is the truth then you may well have something to improve. however the allegation of censorship is far more damaging than any criticism of the event imo...

Right... I've asked this once already on the dreamlan forums (and was deleted... what a suprise!), but does anyone know why the DreamLAN forums are moving?
Whats more, is anyone actually able to get into them?
Eskimo

no i can't get onto them, i can tell its going to be a pain in the arse having to swap between forums though.

Now this is just silly.
Its a simple enough question. Why the move to the new forum location?
Cant you answer that? Will you even respond? Or is this somehow flamebait, and to be deleted for a third time?
As the organiser of your own LAN party Cyberdude, I'd expect more of you.

Squire Please stop chasing me around like a little puppy. You are not providing a public service to anyone.
You are no longer anything to do with dreamlan in any way. Your series of personal slander towards me means that i no long wish to comunicate with you.

You dont have to communicate with me, but just because I will no longer be going to DreamLAN does not mean I do not wish to socialise or talk with the other people that do. I will continue to lead a life despite the iritation it obviously causes you, and that means talking on your forums.
All your efforts to remove me from the DreamLAN foums do is proove how petty you really are.

Just whilst in this uncensored thread... is it wise to have two multiplay supported events on the same weekend? I was under the impression that the LAN scene was non-competative. I remember when we booked Centralan we ensured nothing was on or near to the weekend. Nothin can be done now, we'll just have to live with it, but maybe we should all communicate a bit better.

There are so many small LAN organisers around now that it would be impractical to never have 2 on the same w/e but your point is a good one.
Perhaps LANs that are close by, or share a significant customer base should collude to avoid conflicts.
winbar
22nd January 2003, 12:05
Yes, i completely agree, but im suggesting the MPUK supported ones - there are only 9 at the moment - try to arrange things to help eachother out. Maybe (suggestion time) some sort of LAN diary for those in the supported LANs program on the multiplay website to help avoid clashes??

thats actually a neat idea. A lan diary so when you login on the website it shows a calender of all mpuk and supported lans in the year. maby with the option to select which ones you will be attending so you can easily see when you need to book time off work etc.
start whipping those web monkeys m00! :)

Thats actually my point too. But whats done is done, and we gotta work with it. Myself and Branflake refused to book ours on the same day as any of the supported LANs, we even have all the next support lan dates and links on our site, oh well... all good fun.

22nd January 2003, 15:48
I really don't think it's such a problem for such geographically disparate events. With the numbers of supported lans getting much bigger, it's inevitable that some will clash. However, Oxford vs. Stoke is a fair distance... we're talking over 100 miles. I don't forsee any problems as the crossover of catchment is very limited.
I would agree that it's an idea to put together a lan calendar system incorporating all mpuk supported lans. Another way we can help promote them on the MPUK site. We'll see what we can do for this.
cyberdude
22nd January 2003, 16:30
Agreed with wizo.. I dont think its such a big problem,But I am a nasty evil person remember :-)^^see above^^.
I chose not to clash with stratlan because I goto those.
If we were all in the same catchment area then it maybe a problem, and if you lose people to another lan then just make yours better... after all that would raise the standard of all the lans ! and perhaps they would last longer as groups. Dreamlan was the first MPUK supported LAN and we are all for helping others but our venues and time constraints mean that we can not be as flexible as we would like to be when chooseing a date for a lan. If you want help then just ask.
And if holding a lan the same time as another one does affect you then do you think there really is a need for that lan in that area ? That was not ment to attack anyone but you dont see many cornershops on the same corner ?
I personally would like to unite the lan groups and loan equipment expertise where possible. There are so many fly by night bad lans out there, I tink we should Increase the standard.
I would be willing to spend some time and get something sorted... we should really have England domination and start attracting more and more people into lans, but still the same faces? today small lans....tommorrow the world, the universe by friday :-)
Ideas on a postcard to...........

Rar. If you want a LAN calendar, just submit our LAN to PlanetLAN.co.uk as soon as you've planned it - it's really rather handy!

Heh, dont misunderstand im not having a go! Im just giving example to how useful something like this diary would be, and yes PlanetLAN has already been used, as has UKLans.com. incidently, im not bothered what has gone on up there (/me points ^^^^^^^^^^^) Thats nothing to do with this. Also, im probably getting more worked up about this than i should, wizzo knows himself ive been over-stressing about it, just trying to make it all right for the debut thats all.

I agree Diz. That's quite rude actually, CD. We're all in this together, and by attracting punters to our lans, we can also introduce them to others. I'm hoping to palm a few FBL regs off onto MPUK, and if there's any attendees around TripWyre, ScotLAN, WestLAN or CentraLAN's catchment areas, then I would certainly tell them of that LAN. I would definately NOT do the same for DreamLAN if the organisor has such an elitist, non-community spirited attitude towards the Supported LANs programme.
First MPUK Supported LAN? That means Jack ****. FBL have come a long way in the past 6 months, less than that in fact. Being first to market doesn't mean anything. Get off your high horse.

Care to name any?
Im sorry, but its careless statements like that which totally contradict your sudenly found philanthropist attitude. Not everyone likes the way others do things, or they see opportunities in other places. Does that make them fly by night?
I think there is more to be said for diversity than homogenising the LAN community.

Ok time to address the points one by one:
starting with my little yourkshire terrier
Care to name any?
Naming them would be unfair would it not. I have been to some poorly run lan parties, people just think they have a switch and thats all there is to it. I have not been to any of the other supported lan either because they are too far away or they are new and I havent had chance to go to one yet. So therefore Ican not class any of the mpuk supported lans as fly by night.
I think there is more to be said for diversity than homogenising the LAN community.
Well ofcourse there is but where is it ? there are alot of events all the same.

I support the mpuk supported lans and I am willing to help, butI can not change my venue dates very easily.Dreamlan staff have been running events for years and years and know a lot of the problems lan organisers face. We can help.

The victim, on your signups you encoraged people to say do not go to dreamlan. Then when you want to buy a switch off me or me buy a server off you are are just the best friend anyone can have. This is against all better judgement as i'm sure i'll get a resounding "F**k You" from someone :)
Is there anyway (Cyberdude and Squire) that you two can try and resolve your differences and be friends? I know its naive to think that everyone in our LAN community will get along because we are all different people but I hate all this bitching. We ALL enjoy LAN's and lifes too short squabble over diferences. (That said I admit i know nothing of the history of you two)
From what I know of Squire, he's a really nice guy. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting u cyberdude but i hope to at future LAN's.
Any chance of some 'keepage of the piece' for the sake of all having some cracking LAN's together in 2003 and beyond?
