Looks like I won't be able to make this, as I'll be "data couriering" game install info to Telehouse on my laptop. Transferring 18GB over ADSL upload just isn't proving fun :)

18GB over 56k or ISDN would see you in retierment before it had finished. :)
Gifted
16th October 2002, 14:26
would take about 432hours on ISDN or 18days
or
1080 Hours on 56K or 45 days
thats at max speed though!

If you cannot make it you are required to IRC PM Njoroge or myself before 19:20 BST tonight, or send an email to phil@atdot.at & njoroge@atdot.at. Last minute unannounced dropouts will guarantee you a swift exit from the clan.
As people have pointed out, if the reason you can't make it is because you're not at a computer, please SMS me @ +49 172 89 79 727 (it's apparently still only 10p from a UK mobile).

And if you don't have a mobile phone then send a carrier pigeon to Rheinfelderstr 1, Basel 4058. --Nj

Medals:
After dragging ourselves from the battlefield tatty and blooded, the fighters ranging from fearless to the Italian lined up for the award ceremony.
The legendary Blue Max Medal of northern manc scum: Awarded to afty for his honourable and simply outstanding performance in the battle.
Bronze star for heroic achievement: BGH for his informative comms on enemy advancements and ability to hold off the charlies until reinforcements arrived. It may have cost him more blood than any other member of the clan, but a fine performace.
Wooden leeching shell-shocked spoon award of the mammoth: Awarded to my fine self. The start of the war this fine soldier was aiding the battle with very succesfully ear-popping altituded sky-falls, pulling the chute at the last possible second. By the end of the war the ears had gone and the mercury had started to seem through the flight helmet. The award was won by the following 2 deaths (in a row). 1: Jumping from the plane and forgetting to pull the chute, 2: jumping fropm the plane, throwing a grenade and dying from the fall that came right after the grenade concussion pushed me off a cliff.
Special mentions:
Helier, Eskimo - gg, wp
After-action report:
Axis: No more than 40 seconds from the start of the game we had 4 flag. Fantastic. We stuck together, supported each other, attacked in synch and defended well even with the incessant attacks of talented pilots. Fine win - well done to all. 178-0
Allies: We had all 4 flags in 30 seconds - started so well! The defense wasn't as coordinated so we lost spawns unnecessarily. At one point we were up about 140-30 and yet we still managed to lose. WHen BGH said over comms "that's it, we've won this" I could smell the cockiness of the entire team in the air. That was our downfall. After losing a couple of flags our attacks lost all synch and we went in as single soldiers, only to be cut up by defense that could not have coped with synch'd attacks. They played well, we could have played better. Tail between the legs time.
All in all:
Thanks to all, great to have a good team with good comms playing so well together. We notched up another victory. I'm proud of our clan.

indeed apologies for cockiness, can't believe we let it slip
We went from fantastic, to terrible, luckily it averaged out to good enough :)

we were on 80 odd tickets and they were on 25, and they managed to win with 8 :)
I think their whole stratagy was based around their pilots. Every time you got in a tank you only had a few minutes before they blew you up....
we didnt have any of our pilots yesterday did we?
Big Giant Head

None of our first choice pilots were about, no :(

They did actually comment positively about our pilots in the game, although they were referring to them as air taxis more than bombing ability. They liked the HALOs, although in my case I think they should be called vHAvLO :)

hehe,
You know the bunker on the big hill.
They had capped it and i HALO'd onto the roof, and made the flag neutral. The guy inside was running around like ****e trying to find me and couldnt :)
after about a minute i jumped down and got him while he was using the medi cabinet :p: no one can see you laying flat on the top of that (except planes i guess)
Helier

Axis was great owned some plane mid air with the tank main gun, defending a cap point.
Had some trouble with keeping Outpost since i went to it first in the jeep to cap it. Radioed for help because there was a sniper and a tank there now. And soon had backup of 3/4 more people, we owned the tank and the sniper and kept it.
Allies was going fine, then my parents rung so i played for most the map on the phone, which is kinda hard aiming.
They got some decent pilots bombing the vehicles before you could get to the point and when you got to the point they had some people there to take out.
I made some stupid mistakes which lead to my death a couple of times, but due to parents being on the phone i didn't have my game thinking cap on hence dying.
.....
Overall unlucky for on allies, but we really owned them on Axis

Sorry guys, but the system build I was doing before (see the game before this' thread) went over into the next day (ie. this day), so I couldn't get online to tell you I couldn't make it, due to having no machine.

Perhaps a tactic to condier next time we are on this map is to get a single player into the enemy base, steal a tank and harrass the planes/tanks as they spawn?

This is simply not good enough. A few batteries and some elementary electronics equipment and cables would have sufficed. Simply cut open the wires leading to your phone socket, find the correct two and use a tone generator to apply the correct frequency across them. Do this fast enough and accurately enough, and you just phoned Nildram and negotiated a v.90 connection. Now simply make the noises your modem normally makes when on IRC, and you've PMed us all!
