View Full Version : REALLY laggy UT2k3 servers

Been playing on the MPUK servers lately and i have to say that there are a few problems i'm noticing and this is lag. The servers seem to be getting progressively laggy to the point where its un-playable. HAs anyone else noticed this? I was thinking that maybe it would be an idea to reduce the player limit.

anyone else noticed this?

yea i went on with 128k and i was only pinging 130!!

but then again it is a hungry game.

This is a memory leak issue with the current server code. It means they get progressively more CPU hungry as the game goes on for a particular map. The bigger the map, the bigger the problem. Although tbh, I've not had any problems on them at all :)

The servers have issues. They seem to be leaking in places, we're asssured that Epic are looking into this issue. Hence the progressivly getting worse...

I don't think the netcode sucks actually, it's good just not excellent.

i have noticed a slow down

could we maybe reduce the max player count on the instagib server to either 12 or 15, because the current 20 is too much, espicially for some of the smaller maps. might help the server cope, and also would help many gamers who lag when there are 15 ppl on a screen at once :S

i agree. Lower the server count to 12 - 14 would be good.

I hav noticed lag when i play:mad: ...but not only on MPUK but Jolt and BY aswell.....Is it the netcode or just the fact that there r Pacific players on it lagging it?

The player limits have been dropped on the servers and this seems to have helped quite a bit. But again I've not noticed any lag on the MPUK servers especially when compared to Jolt or Barrysworld who seem to be running too many servers on too little hardware.

lol jolt and barrysworld still havent learnt their lesson from their cs servers. 20 servers per machine is what i'd guess they're running. and well, thats just stupid really because half the time they're not full anyway.
At least BlueYonder do a much better job than jolt/bw for game servers :D
