OK Gents..
The time has come for your website to get a makeover. John and I are getting close to a position where we can start designing and coding the new website. All we need now is your feedback.
Basically, I need you guys to tell me and John..
What you want it to look like..
What you want the basic layout to be..
What features you want it to do
Anything else you can think of that I haven't added.
Granted, you dont know what ASP can and cant do (with the exception of Boffowash) so explain to me what you want it to do and I will try my best to convert it into something that ASP can understand.
Any comments to either drfaust@multiplay.co.uk or reply away!
Cheers Guys..

I was more after everyones opinions.
And seen as it does say "Site Manager" in your signature (:D) I thought you might want a say in it :P

By Site Manager, he means physical site, ie. Padworth/Longstock village halls
Ok, Scotlan style looks great, nice and bright, lots of colours excrement navigation. Would like an automated signup page, would like a poll actually on the site. Nice thumbnails system for coverage pictures. I'm sure there's an ActiveX control out there that will thumbnail a picture, you could have ASP scan directories for pictures then organise them into pages.
Easy way to post news. Erm, if I think of any more, I'll let you know, and also gimme a shout if you need a hand with any of the ASP. Even though your skillz are l337er than mine, there's always a chance that I'll know something you don't :)

Pretty much what he said.
I know there are problems with the Coverage bit, so I dont mind doing that bit manually still if it's so required.
Signup system, easily changeable to Paid = Yes and a facility for admins to enter in people who are too god damn lazy to fill in the form themselves. I like the auto e-mail generation that the ScotLAN site does and also a 'thanks for paying' e-mail when you set people as 'paid' would also be nice.
The ability to post news articles to the front page & an 'add comment' feature for that would also be nice.
A FAQ section, easily updateable by admins.
When I was playing with the ScotLAN site, you couldn't add a new LAN event to it via the admin interface, and as I have no skillz, automating that would also be nice.
Layout wise, I like the ScotLAN interface & i'm sure John will come up with something very sexy design wise.
Urm, thats about all i can think of now!
Cheers for being so l33t and i'm really looking forward to seeing this!
rar.

Thanks

OK, So far.. we have...
Easy editable News with comments
Easy editable FAQ Section
Automatic Signup Process
Confirmation Emails
Poll (changed often?)
Automatic Changing of event
Coverage System
Most of those a pretty simple. Some are going to take a little bit of thinking. I will just code it all from scratch - It will be far easier.
Regarding layout.. John and I are stuck really. We want to know what kind of funky things you want on the front page and other pages. Do you want countdowns to the next event? Do you want Columns? Hardware Articles? Wha??
Also, if you have *ANY* clue about a layout, please tell us. We need something to work from :)

Ok.
A poll would be nice, but it's not essential.
Countdowns to the next event would be a definate yes please, I like that idea.
Columns, not particularly. I don't think we get enough visitors to negate the need for that yet.
Design layout wise, Nav bar down the left hand side I like, ala current site, ScotLAN, MPUK, fluffle arena etc. Need pages for detailed information on the events. The current format I use is one big page, but with anchors for each 'section' on the page linked from the nav bar. So clicking on FBL-5 on the main navbar for example, would open the whole page, but clicking 'Location' from a submenu under FBL-5 would jump to the #location anchor. I think that works quite well, however if you think seperate pages are better / easier, feel free to overule me.
I'll leave the pretty pictures / colours entirely down to John's l33t skillz, as I quite clearly suck in that area. :p: White backgrounds, pretty colours & gfx - that kinda thing! :D
That help at all?
:D

Tom darling
We are sitting here in IT and were wondering if we could also have a "Pic O the week"?
Cheers

Ive never dabbled into using Active Desktop but from what I understand, its just an HTML page. I'm not sure if it will be able to process JavaScript (which is what the counter is written in) but i will investigate.
A picture of the week/month shouldn't be a problem at all.

Are you thinking of changing this vBB forum?? As i dont think that will be totally allowed. Maybe Wizzo might be generous but you will have to check with him first off.
