I'm probably not going to be home from work till 7:30ish. I'll pop into the channel when I get back and see how things are going.
Will we have a Dedicated Gamevoice server up on a windows box by then? I was somewhat hampered by frantic typing efforts last time.
Sykes if you have visitors your large conn will handle the traffic easy.
As market garden I've played one or two rounds - basically a main point is we WILL need pilots (as allies), especially if they can use the big-bird (b17). As Axis it's a tank rush with AA cover. (careful on the metal bridge tho -if they have a decent b17 bomber that can be a deathtrap...)
Will say more later.

I will be there.
My point re: number of members still stands. IMO we should have double the number of members as we may need for our biggest game - I've run clans in a variety of games before, and the bigger the team size, the more subs you need.
Invariable *at least* 25% of your players are unavailable, 10% technically ruled out, and 10% forget or similar - leaving you with only around 60% of your squad to pick from for games.
It should be particularly easy when we have so many games per week, and people don't mind sitting out because they know they don't have to wait a fortnight to play again. We can easily accomodate 25 players in the squad if we keep matches regular.

From my extensive studies I have found it's closer to 23.5% unavailable (2.4% of these still able to play if the really must), 8% technically troubled (although 3.23% of these are impaired but still able to play), and 11.7% forget or similar. All of this is irrelevent on a full moon of course due to statistics being 57% more innaccurate within 12.9 hours either side of this lunar event.
[Edited by Zakalwe to correct the hours either side of the lunar event to 12.9 from 12.8 (rounding error)]

Match Report:
An enjoyable match against relic (*cough* LEM) who are shaping up to be a quality regular friendly opposition.
The match took place on Operation Market Garden, initially as a 10 on 10, although Relic (*cough* LEM) lost a man about 1/2 way through the first round and we gained someone abouth 3/4's of the way through the first round. So the second round was conducted with a 2 man advantage to [MPUK] in its entirety. Eskimo and TehGuyver will require me to point out that they were playing with pings in excess of 300, so its not as bad as it seems, but it did leave us with an overlap.
Right, now that's out of the way I'll do the run-down. As you can see from Eskimo's post we won both rounds, the tighter round (20ish-0) was as allies and without the full man advantage.
Allies: 20ish-0
A solid performance intially, but we got sloppy after a few minutes and LEM managed to steal one of our tanks from the churchyard, which frankly should never happen. This messed us up proper and we were on the back-foot for most of the game. A valiant counter-attack at c. 50 tickets saw us recapturing spawns and special mention must be made to Catachan, our new fly-boy, who took out essentially and entire tank column on the steel bridge (and as a bonus nailed tehGuyver as well). Endgame had us recapping all points and watching the bleed as we held them over the bridges.
Awards.
Italian war-hero: Nobody! Everyone got stuck in.
Gets his Wings: Catachan
Muppet-medallions: Me(Zakalwe) and Eskimo. Myself for a particularly special exppack plant about an enemy spawn - which I set off after we'd capped it just as everyone respawned - and Eskimo for his oddly accuracte grenades...
Medals of Honour: Psym, for his tanking. Afty for his thieving Skillz.
Axis: 81-0
A better performance (perhaps aided by our 2 man overlap :)).
We got the tanks over the bridge fairly early on, with decent AA support stopping too much damage from the air (although someone did manage to Kamikaze the B17 into a tank). Once over the bridge we made good use of the armour advantage and quickly locked down the town. On the second respawn of our home armour we managed to get c. 6 tanks active on the town side of the river. Then we mercilessly slaughtered the allies as they paradropped into the map. It was all pretty brutal. LEM fought on to the end, and reptitively managed to break out through the vicious barrage of tank fire but we simply had too much armour in the area. Highlights go to Psym's direct hit with his main gun on a paratrooper, Lyn's repeated thieving of the churchyard tanks, NJ's worried calls on Voice-comms and My utterly sacrilegous shelling of the inside of the Church.
Awards:
Balaclava of Bast4dry: Me, for the sickening number of kills I got as people landed from parachuting and couldn't move.
Tank-Licenses: Lyn, Psym, Afty, AcidUK - all passed with flying colours except for Aciduk's three-point turn and Afty's emergency stop.
Italian War Her0: Njoroge, as I can't recall seeing him do anything (this may be unfair but its true:))
Chessmasters: Eskimo and TehGuyver - who decided to "play by mail"
Right that's it. LEM have Suggested making this matchup a regular thing and we've expressed an inerest. They're of a reasonable standard and make for very good practice partners.
More friendlies Ahoy!

How dare you Zakalwe!
I took it on myself to recap the lost spawns as Axis rather than going for captures and did that for most of the match. When we had a silly ammount of tanks I was laying down behind the paradrop spawn facing the church and shooting them all as they landed. None of them spotted me and it was very amusing. I used up 4 full clips shooting them all in the back.
In fact the only one that got past me was when I shouted "Zak, enemy on the hill to your left" and 2 seconds later you shermaned him - it seems we understand each other ;)

yus ip over email is bad enough, this was over carrier pigeion or so it felt. the second game it took me ALL game to get over the bridge, i saw 2 enmes' all that game, both were in planes and both were nail by catchan. at that point i gave up :)
About 10 mins after the game i lost totally connectivity and my NTL box was sat prettierly being reprogramed by some ****stain of an engineer. after all that it was fine, doh!

zak: nps with the leadership, although i wasnt really that much involved. can i just say that roger wilco is PAP and probably didnt help my cause bandwidth wise. I know some peeps cannot use TS, but id rather have a muted TS player than a ping crippled player :P
i DID love the *map* with numbers on for team tactics. it really made sence and help me see what was going on. it was also good that you assigned players to certain cap points and told who to go where when.

As for commanding - the strat discussion was really good, but didn't start early enough. We really need to either schedule the games later by 30 mins or get ppl into the channel sooner. If the discussion had happened sooner then we would have been much clearer on strats primary and secondary.
That's not your fault at all though - I was worried we weren't going to get a full team it was so quiet!
Another point is that half of the clan hadn't played that map b4 - please guys if you are going to play in the match then at least play an hour of SP on the map each side beforehand - we post the map to be played early enough

Picked up the Tiger as Axis at the start, moved to beginning of metal bridge and just as I got on it, the B17 is heading at me low... "****" thinks I, "he's going to bomb me... he's so low he can't miss" - and then his nose points down, and he descends into the ground on the front of my turret - Kaboom.
Even more amusingly was the B17 parket at the church. Someone flew it down so slow, from the direction of the allied paras and it stopped on the ground near one of the doors. I lobbed some Exppacks around it, and just as an allied para landed on a wing, KABOOM. V funny.
Also must remember the thieving as allies on that map. I stole 5 tanks, and destroyed about another 5/6 in little sprees - either as a belly gunner in Catchamans B17 or as a Mustang pilot bailing out over their base. It's a toss up whether to take engineer or anti-tank. As engineer you can repair the tank you steal, but if you get spotted you can't do FA. If you go anti tank you can get clever, and paradrop from low altitude just behind a mobile enemy tank, take it out in one shot, then try to find an empty tank - even if you get killed, you've probably made a "profit" by taking out a tank.

The amount of times you hitched a lift with me afty... :D
And what about the time you started up the B-17 on the runway, I got in, and we both understood each other perfectly, switching positions almost instantly :D
Top quality teamwork, hehe.
