For anyone who thinking that this game will make a good single player game, be warned... The computer bot AI is awful..

The UK full version V1.0*, wake island, against the bots, the japs land on the southern landing beach, where are your allies??? Thats right having a party in the north village..

"You can issue a limited number of commands like "get in" to order a bot into the vechile your driving".. Sure they "get in", trouble is, they dont STAY IN for more than about 2 secs.

Get in a vechile a bot is driving, and you go on joy rides, back and forth, not going anywhere fast.

Capturing points??, sometimes you can have nearly the entire army near a flag, do they take it?? oo no, they seems to stand around and wait for you to take the point..

OOo airplanes, sometimes the bots will take them for joyrides. They take off, fly around in circles above the base, thats it. It wont even be a base you have to defend, there usefulness is zero (except for target practice).

Does this bizzare AI effect the other side??? well strangly enough no. The enemy seems to know what to do, and seems to play the game reasonably well..

Very occasionally, you will be fooled, the bots will seem to play the game properly, they seem to handle themself in fights ok (when they do end up fighting).

So as a single player game, dont go there, the bots in original UT are far more advanced than these things. Ideally use single player to checkout the maps for multiplayer goodness..

Thats all :D

*First thing you need to do after installing the game, is download the retail patch (v1.1) 15mb :( to play it online

This sounds like amazing AI, fully simulating most of the people who play on the multiplay public server with an astounding level of accuracy.

Actually its better than playing with people on the pubilc servers, I'm yet to be killed by my own team

were you ever in any doubt?

These types of games never work well in a single player environment unless they are scripted (ala Op Flash). Its the multiplayer we all care about.

P.S. Tsunami - i'm aware ur still on 56k ;)

I think they just added single player in a half-assed attempt to expand the games potential market a bit. Don't buy the game unless you know you can play it online is what I say!

I am on 56k modem, not by choice I can asssure you (i just dont get a choice!)..

Anyways the full game seems to be playable on a 24 player server, EA servers are ok to play on (Taken MPUK havent set up a full server yet!) with a modem.

Bot support has been "bolted on", it just i cannot believe how stupid these bots really are. They can fight ok, so how difficult would it of been for the programmers to assign each bot on your team a flag point, and tell that bot to capture it? (or guard it if captured).

Otherwise its seems (and I'm guessing is) totally random :D

Just tried playing single player mode and they should be bloody ashamed - it totally spoils the game and one word sums it up "B*******".
