Connection Problems?!

Ok, ive just installed and updated bf1942 (yey :D ) and looks an amazing game, but whenever i try to join a server like the multipla server it lags out, with pings of 1000... im lucky to even spawn let alone move :(

I have a ISDN 64k connection and it should work on ISDN 112 setting without much trouble should it not? It runs ok in 56k mode except its jolty all over the place (planes especially) and its damned annoying! The wierd thing is my ping with the 56k setting is fine, about 70-80ish, but its soo jolty its unbelieveable... My PC specs are as follows...

p4 1.7ghz
512mb SDRAM
asus GF4ti4600
fortissimo2 soundcard (not sure if thats important)

Any help would be appriciated...

I have the exact same problem except im on dialup which due to bt's extreme incompetence doesnt connect at more than 28kbits/sec ever

at least you're al getting further than me! I get as far as clicking on the game .exe and it crashes back to desktop. :(

A good tip is when you have joined a game esc out back to the server screen and enter a random server name into the filter i.e. sdgfhaghfga some complete crap then hit enter.
A large amount of initial lag happens because the game apparently keeps refreshing the server list.
