View Full Version : MPUK Clan

Who's up for creating an MPUK clan?
We've got a good team by my reckoning, Wizzo and FearHawk commanding, Mav in the air, and people seem to be getting the hang of the tanks and also AA fire :)
<Elbonio> the key to a sucessfull clan is starting it up when the game comes out
Damn right, Elbonio. This game isn't even out yet, and still there seem to be organised clans and tournaments on the way. We need to strike whilst the grenade is hot, people.
Wizzo is ok with it being branded (ouch!) MPUK, and I'm sure we will have lots of memebers, seeing how popular it is amongst us all, especially at StratLAN.
Also, we need to have Voice Comms. I am really surprised it isn't built into the game, but it looks like it's Roger Wilco, BattleCom or the other one (Base station something?) for us.
So, post below if you're interested. Remember, the MPUK BF1942 server is always up, 212.42.1.245, default port, password candle.
See? we even have our own clanserver for practice \o/
BTW, first post :) :) :D

no mpuk gaming team ever has stuck at the game for a period of time greater than a month,
if you could pull it off i'd be impressed but tbh we are all too busy people to play games to this level online.

Has any game ever received such a response from MPUK though? You were at StratLAN, you witnessed how big this game was. Like I say, we have a strong team, i reckon we could do quite well. Possibly. Maybe. About as well as the staff in the Boat race anyway ;)

WildThing
4th September 2002, 07:21
Me and a few m8s are gunna set up a clan i think of about 16 people to cover for all maps. Yes girlies will be more than welcome if we ever get round to getting everything done. Look out for 'WildThing' or '<WAF>WildThing' on EABFEC (something like)servers cuz its me. Heh.Maybe try out the MPUK server later.
Now time for college. :(

Count me in, sir.
This is the first shoot em up game I've played in about 2 YEARS which has really captured my attention.
IMO if we're going to do this properly, we should find out who's interested then assign some responsibilities... General (overall commander), Secretary (Fixtures / Website Content), Colonel(s) (On the day tactics) etc... just to make it a bit of fun.
Also, a website with ranks is very inkeeping with the games theme. If I get a spare hour I'll knock something up in Photoshop today.
Oh, and we *need* an MPUK "flag"...

I agree, this is one of the first games since CS that has REALLY blown me away, and I can't really put my finger on it; it's a bit like MOH:AA/Tribes2 with a 'Blizzard-esque' gameplay polish (i.e. nothing new but plays well).
Afty, I looked through my list of ranks, and I didn't say 'Secretary' in the list.... I think we'd want an adjutant :)
I will volunteer to be a colonel, and take special responsibility for naval discipline (GET OUT OF THE CARRIER YOU LAZY ****S!).
I will give a training course in successful tank HALOing as well (record last night: 9 jumps, 6 landings ON the tank, 2 within 3 seconds walk, 1 where I had to kill the current occupant and get in).
Oh, and http://www.atdot.at/images/bfc-sl10.jpg

I would but have no time :)
On voice comms though, DO NOT use wilco if you possibly can help it - it is in fact a piece of crapola.
battlecom is good but you can't set up a seperate constant running server on linux or whatever, if that flicks your switch.
I would highly recommend TeamSpeak though - http://www.teamspeak.org/
give it a go
there's a client program and a server.
Have fun and gg :)
P.S. You'll all be dropping this game like a brick in water once Breed comes along! :)

OK, I think we have an amount of interest now that makes this worth pursuing.
I'm assuming that our venerable BoffBowsh would like to take the Armchair of "Commander in Chief"?
May I suggest the following ranks/positions:
Commander-In-Chief - Final say on all policy decisions.
General - Overall strategic command. Tactics and strategy for maps. Expected to research map tactics on the web, and prepare MPUK plans for battle.
Colonel - At least one per game. Handles one or more aspects in game.
Sarge - Team leaders in game. I'm assuming BF1942 will work well with squads assigned, Colonels are expected to give objectives to sergeants, sergeants will then decide on minutiae (like weapon loadout, where to go, when etc).
Adjutant - Responsible for out-of-game comms. Mailing list, website etc.
bvark : will the rest of you dodgy foreigners be joining us in this little foray into team based gaming? A strong landborne backbone of bfc would be a good addition to the forces.
MEN. ATTEN-HUT. Report for duty at the barracks NAAAH YOO 'ORRIBLE LITTLE SCROATS.

Thank you afty, i am most honoured to accept this post.
As for squad-based play, i agree, having sargeants to co-ordinate individual squads is an excellent idea. Taking Wake Island as an example, You could have 3 squads (assuming 10 a side) and at the start as allies, you have a Rapid Reaction Jeep-based force to go an recover lost capture points, an airbourne squadron (Maverick, you are sargeant, you don't HAVE a choice) and a team to go and actively attack the incoming landing craft. All in all, it should work fine.
Wizzo: Any space on that gorgeous telehouse server o' joy for a small website for us? We need somewhere to coordinate ourselves :)
Any graphic and web monkeys, can we have a little flag for us please?
Also, anyone know the command line option to automatically connect to a game? I'd love to just double-click an icon on the desktop and be in the MPUK server :)

would we be able to upload onto some webspace in MPUK then??
not just saying this but i think this game will last a VERY long time!! and if we get coordinated at the very start then by the time other clans are popping up all over the place we gonna be well established!

Well im happy to take the position of sargeant of the Air. Trouble is I have noticed some of the maps dont have aircraft, IE the single player demo. So im learning tactics with the engineer and mine laying,
Ive noticed the net code anit that bad for the game online so bombing runs are still as accurate as normal.
Looks like we have a Bf1942 to clan then :p

16 players per team so I hear, so we need a squad of at *least* 32.. for practices, and to ensure we can always field a team.
If anyone hears different from 16, LMK.

Final game is 64 players, but practicality wise it is going to be 16 aside for any clan games probably less if you put in an observer.
There are not many clans I know who could muster 32 players at anyone time.
A 32 a side tourney would be possible at a Lan, but 16 is practical to start with.

Hand me that King's Shilling my man - I'll take the post of commander of the MPUK SAS (rapid reaction force) and plotter in chief of the dirty tricks department...
Members of the SAS will be identifiable by their tendency to parachute into villages and kill 5 people in a row - 2 SMG, 2 pistol and finished with the knife HITHANKHUGH!
We've also been known to take down tanks with specially trained badgers and are proficient in all forms of combat and all vehicle types (/me points to the three-pass solo sinking of the carrier medal on his medal-strewn chest)
It will be an honour to fight with alongside the MPUK crew for their greater glory.
Seriously, this game rocks and it will be nice to hand some down to other Pe0n gamers with our vast SL10 experience behind us.
