Xbox Drops Console Price in Europe


In Europe, the choice of which video game console to purchase this holiday season just got easier. Microsoft recently announced that as of August 30, 2002, the European price of Xbox will drop to €$249.99/£159.99.

Microsoft made the decision in part because the company anticipates high demand for video games and video game consoles during the year-end holidays.

So Gamecube £129
Xbox £159
Ps2 £199

Makes buying an Xbox even more tempting :)

Prices slightly wrong there, SCEE actually announced a reduction to £169 for the PS2 (one of the prompts quite likely for Microsofts announcement).

So the prices are:

Gamecube £129
Xbox £159
Ps2 £169

Still makes the XBox the second cheapest though.

Cheers for correction VexedMightily, I didnt realise that sony had dropped the PS2 price as well.

The XBox site doesn't mention the PS2 price so I think thats just *Tsunami* that added that bit extra.

xBox is the cheapest if you consider that the gamecube isn't a console because it has no games worth playing

Me too.
With their offer that M$ did of 2 free games and a controller for people who bought it full price I got £250 of free stuff cos they sent me 4 free games and 2 free controllers.

But Super Monkey ball is in development for PS2 and likely to be on XBox not long after.
So Game Cube has nothing really :(

Never been a fan of Star Wars or it's games.
I will be playing Star Wars Galaxies though :)
